Nayzungit – The Divine Cleric

Nayzungit, a towering half-orc of imposing physique, presents a stark contrast to the rest of the party. His muscular frame, accentuated by his 6’4″ height, speaks of a life of physical hardship and constant struggle. Green skin, a testament to his orcish heritage, is stretched taut over his broad shoulders and thick neck. His black eyes, devoid of any hint of warmth, burn with an almost unsettling fervor, reflecting the unwavering conviction that grips his soul. He is completely bald, his protruding tusks adding to his already intimidating presence.

Nayzungit is the divine companion and spiritual leader of The Roving Adventurers exploring Hyebrenia.

Strength and Beliefs

Nayzungit is a cleric, a devout follower of Angradd, a dwarven god of strength, stone, and the forge. Nayzungit knows that Angradd is the one true god, the supreme being in the pantheon, in a world of countless deities. This conviction isn’t just a matter of faith; it’s an all-consuming obsession. Whenever fortune smiles upon the party, Nayzungit seizes the opportunity to proselytize. He attempts to convert anyone and everyone to the worship of Angradd. His sermons, often delivered at inappropriate times and in excruciating detail, are a source of constant irritation to his companions, particularly Makhulim.

Party Conflict

The dwarf views Nayzungit’s worship of Angradd as a sacrilege, a theft of his ancestral god. The very idea of a half-orc, a creature often associated with chaos and destruction. His claim of devotion to a deity of dwarven tradition fills Makhulim with righteous anger. The tension between the two is palpable, a constant undercurrent of religious and cultural conflict that threatens to erupt at any moment.

Weapon

Nayzungit’s weapon of choice is a greataxe of considerable size and menace, named “Clementine.” This is no ordinary weapon, however. “Clementine” glows with an unsettling, sickly green tint, a visual manifestation of the dark energy that permeates it. As Nayzungit swings the axe, it leaves trails of shadow in its wake, as if cutting through the very fabric of reality. These shadows seem to writhe and twist, whispering promises of power and destruction. It’s a terrifying spectacle, and a clear indication of the dark pact that Nayzungit has made with his deity.

Spiritual Guidance

But Nayzungit’s devotion to Angradd is more complex than simple fanaticism. His past is shrouded in mystery, a tale of rejection and isolation. As a half-orc, he was ostracized by both humans and orcs, never truly belonging. He found solace in the unwavering strength and steadfastness of Angradd, a god who represents stability and tradition in a world that has offered him neither.

Perhaps, his fervent evangelism is not just an attempt to spread his faith, but also a desperate search for acceptance and belonging. He seeks to create a community of believers, a family bound by their shared devotion to Angradd, a place where he, the outcast, can finally find a home.

This deep-seated need for belonging, coupled with his unwavering faith and the dark power of “Clementine”. His axe makes Nayzungit a complex and unpredictable force within the party. He is a walking contradiction of devotion and darkness, constantly striving to convert others while battling his own inner demons.
